About me..

Hello, I'm Mick Scott.
Born and bred in Stockton-on-Tees, I love the Teesside area, as there is so much rich history in the region. I went to the same school as actors Stephen Tomkinson & Richard Griffiths. - That's right, Harry Potter's Uncle was a Stockton Lad!
My working life has seen me travelling through Europe and Africa, even living in Cyprus for a number of years, before returning to Teesside. As a Document Manager in the offshore industry, I worked with offshore Windfarms, dealing with the submission, quality check, and issuing of documentation on a daily basis. - An ideal profession you may say for a Genealogist.

Experience & Qualifications:

I have been researching Family History and Genealogy since 2002 and I am a member of both Cleveland Family History Society, as well as Northumberland & Durham Family History Society. Over the decades I have found it fascinating, and at times frustrating, but ultimately rewarding, having also helped a few close friends over the years, when they have asked if I could look into their trees.

Recently, after more than 2 decades of personal research, I enrolled in a number of courses in Genealogy & Genetic Genealogy, learning more and more about the field and the methods used. I am also currently enrolled with Strathclyde University, working toward obtaining my MSc Degree in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies.

I am an Associate of AGRA, (Association of Genealogists & Researchers in Archives), and an SOG Member (Society of Genealogists). As an Associate of AGRA, I am required to abide by AGRA’s Code of Practice and Ethics.
